About Us

About Summit Art

Summit Art is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing our membership opportunities to exhibit their artwork, interact with peers, and develop professionally. We are also committed to engaging the general public through exhibitions, scholarships and art class offerings.

Got Art Gallery Home of Summit Art in downtown Lee’s Summit .The gallery strives to provide area artists a place to showcase their artwork. This opportunity is available equally to all artists, member and non-member alike. The gallery offers monthly exhibitions, art workshops, and art classes (adult and children’s) to the public.

In addition to the gallery, Summit Art hosts and plans the Summit Art Festival (previously the Longview Art & World Music Festival). This growing event takes place in historic downtown Lee’s Summit and includes over 85 artists from across the country.

Membership

Summit Art maintains a membership of over 100 artists. Artists must be juried in to become Summit Art members, with new members juried in quarterly. Annual dues are $50, pro-rated for new members. Please see the “Apply” page for the application and detailed information on how to apply.

All Summit Art sponsored events and activities take place solely through the volunteer efforts of our artist membership. Sharing time and talent is crucial to the functioning of our group and expected from all members.

We have volunteer opportunities for officers, committees, special projects and at the Summit Art Festival.  GOT Art Gallery Home of Summit Art also has volunteer opportunities hanging shows, staffing the gallery, assisting with openings and other specific tasks.

Monthly business meetings are held in a conference room at Saint Luke’s East Hospital, on the second Monday of each month. Meetings typically start at 6:15 with a 15-minute “networking” time, followed by a meeting and a guest speaker. A Christmas party is held in lieu of our December meeting, with spouses invited to share the evening. Prospective members are encouraged to attend a monthly meeting as a guest to learn more about Summit Art.

Other activities available for our members are:  Photography and painting discussion groups, plein air events, field trips and art opening events. Teaching classes at GOT Art Gallery Home of Summit Art is another possibility, as well as attending classes and workshops offered.
