Summit Art is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) juried membership and volunteer run organization. Summit Art members, who are from the Kansas City metropolitan area, excel in the mediums of watercolor, oil, acrylic, drawing, mixed media, photography, glass, pottery, jewelry and digital art. Our Summit Art Gallery, which is the largest fine art gallery in eastern Jackson County, is located in Saint Luke’s East Hospital 100 NE St. Luke’s Blvd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64086
The Summit Art Festival, our annual signature event, is held in historic downtown Lee’s Summit, MO in October.
Guest speakers at the monthly membership meetings are geared toward enhancing artistic knowledge while offering interaction and comradery within the membership for personal and professional growth.
Summit Art offers a Youth Scholarship Fund to area high school students working toward obtaining a career in fine arts.
Applicants must submit artwork to be juried to become a Summit Art member. Jury dates are held quarterly. Annual dues are $50, pro-rated for new members. All Summit Art sponsored events and activities take place solely through the volunteer efforts of our artist membership. Sharing time and talent is crucial to the functioning of our group and expected from all members. We have volunteer opportunities for officers, committees, special projects and during the Summit Art Festival.
Monthly business meetings are held in a conference room at Saint Luke’s East Hospital, on the second Monday of each month. Meetings typically start at 6:15 with a 15-minute “networking” time, followed by a meeting and a guest speaker. A Christmas party, including spouses, is held in lieu of our December meeting. Prospective members are encouraged to attend a monthly meeting as a guest to learn more about Summit Art.
