Summit Art – About Us

Our mission as a 501c3 nonprofit organization with a juried artist membership is a commitment to providing exhibition opportunities, professional development and mentoring within Lee’s Summit and the surrounding communities and engaging the public through the support and creation of art.

Our vision is to create an environment for visual artists in which they can exhibit, sell, learn, interact with peers, build inner confidence and add value to business and community.

Our values are to respect and encourage an appreciation for art in an ethical and courteous manner

Summit Art’s juried members and volunteers are from the Kansas City metropolitan area and excel in the mediums of watercolor, oil, acrylic, drawing, mixed media, photography, glass, pottery, jewelry and digital art. Our Summit Art Gallery, which is the largest fine art gallery in eastern Jackson County, is located in Saint Luke’s East Hospital, 100 NE Saint Luke’s Blvd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64086.

The Summit Art Festival, our annual signature event, is held in the bustling entertainment and historic downtown district of Lee’s Summit, MO,  in October.

Guest speakers at the monthly membership meetings focus on enhancing artistic knowledge while offering interaction and camaraderie within the membership for personal and professional growth.

Summit Art offers a Youth Scholarship Fund to area high school students working toward obtaining a career in visual arts.

To become a juried Summit Art member, artists/applicants must submit an application and enter their artwork for jury selection. Jury dates are held quarterly. Annual dues are $50, pro-rated for new members. Please visit the “Apply” page for the application and detailed information.

All Summit Art events and activities happen with the generous contributions of our volunteers and members. Sharing time and talent is crucial to the functioning of our group and expected from all members. We have volunteer opportunities for officers, committees, special projects and during the Summit Art Festival.

Monthly business meetings are held in a conference room at Saint Luke’s East Hospital, on the second Monday of each month. Meetings typically start at 6:15pm with a 15-minute “networking” time, followed by a meeting and a guest speaker. A Christmas party, including spouses, is held in lieu of our December meeting. Prospective members are encouraged to attend a monthly meeting as a guest to learn more about Summit Art.
