Watercolor Your Way Into Spring
Saturday, February 24, 2018 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Spend a day creating spring color at Powell Gardens with Lee’s Summit watercolor artist Barbara Neth. This workshop, designed for an intermediate level, includes basic foundational color theory and color mixing for painting floral compositions from live plant material. Participants will take away a 16 x 20 inch finished watercolor work at the end of the day. Some watercolor experience is desired for enrolling in this workshop—supplies are not included. A supply list specifying tube colors, paper preferences, and brush suggestions and other miscellaneous items will be provided after registration. Barbara Neth is a Missouri Watercolor Society Signature Member, Summit Art Member, and Mid Missouri Artist Member who has taught many workshops and regularly exhibits in the region.

COST: $85 (Powell Garden members less 10%)

Valda Hsu

Member Valda Hsu, who teaches Chinese brush painting and calligraphy classes, will be demonstrating her beautiful Chinese brush work at the Nelson Museum in the Japanese Art Gallery on Sunday, January 28th from 11:00am to 3:00pm. This is a free event and worth noting, part of the Nelson’s annual Chinese New Year celebration.

Ken Downs

Our own Ken Downs will be displaying his watercolor and acrylic paintings at Roeland Park City Hall from Friday February 5th through Tuesday February 27th with daily viewing hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm and a reception on Friday February 23rd from 5:00pm to 8:30pm.
