GOT Art Gallery announces re-branding, new emphasis in fine art

Following the upcoming Fourth Friday Art Walk in downtown Lee’s Summit May 24, GOT Art Gallery and Summit Art plan to temporarily close the gallery to renovate and improve the popular downtown Lee’s Summit space.

The Summit Art Board of Directors has announced the gallery will hold a soft grand opening at the June 28 Fourth Friday event to introduce new exhibits, educational classes and artwork for sale to the general public.

GOT Art Gallery on Third, 18 SW Third St., opened in 2010 as a vision of Bob and Linda Netterville, owners of the building, and the Summit Art group.

The gallery is owned and operated by Summit Art Inc., a local 501c3 non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to promoting visual arts through mentoring, skill advancement and exhibition opportunities, by providing workshops and events.

“All of us at Summit couldn’t be more thrilled to share with the public our enthusiasm for all the wonderful changes happening soon at GOT Art Gallery,” said Teddy Jackson, chair of the Summit Art Board.

The renovated gallery will not only have an invigorated look, but will focus on being the premier source for quality original art in Lee’s Summit. GOT Art Gallery on Third will be providing educational opportunities for artist development through classes and workshops.

GOT Art Gallery on Third will be under new management soon as well. During a recent transition in management, we have experienced a slight lapse and have lost some means of communications with our customers and those seeking gallery information. We are diligently working toward resolving this.

As GOT Art Gallery on Third transitions into a fine arts-focused gallery, new displays, educational opportunities and physical improvements will be made to the building, including work done to the historic brick, flooring and overall aesthetics.
