Call for Student Art – Application and Info

NOTE: This is for High School Students grades 9-12 ONLY!

Summit Art is pleased to announce a new exhibition for student art at Lee’s Summit City Hall located in downtown. This gallery is located on the first floor, and is open to the public Monday through Friday. The exhibition runs Monday, October 2, through Tuesday, November 14, 2023. 

The theme for artwork is: “Seeing Things in a New Light”.  The Summit Art Student Advisory Council is looking for art that comes from your inner eye and how you may see things from a different perspective. Make the viewer more aware of light, texture, color, balance, and life all around them. There is so much to our world around us to enjoy!  

We are looking for original drawings, paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics and experimental work that tells a story of seeing the world differently.  Use your imagination! Artworks for hanging are limited to a maximum size of 18″ x 24″. Artworks for the display cases are limited to a maximum size of 18″ high x 20″ wide (including any frames or easels if needed). LIMIT TWO ARTWORKS per artist. Be prepared to upload images of the artwork you wish to submit for this exhibition. Accepted 2D art MUST be framed. (See specific information about framing below*.)

DEADLINE to submit application: Sunday, September 10, 2023, midnight.  Selected artists will be notified of the specific piece(s) selected by the curators, by September 15, 2023.

Accepted Art is to be delivered by the artist (framed) to Bridge Space, 210 SW Market St, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063, by Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 6-7pm.

*Students are encouraged to attend a framing workshop at Bridge Space in downtown Lee’s Summit September 26 from 6-7pm.  Proper hanging will be taught with frames provided for those in need.

ART RECEPTION: All parents, family and friends of the artists are invited to Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green St, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063, on Tuesday, October 17, from 6-7:30pm. All artwork on display will be for sale. Summit Art will handle ALL sales transactions and remit 75% back to the individual artist following the exhibition.
