Join Cody Wheelock, owner of Fount Atelier of Fine Art, Summit Art member, and Lee’s Summit artist, for a one-day workshop:

“The Classical Cast: An Introduction to Charcoal Cast Drawing”

Take a step back into the 19th century academy and try your hand at some cast drawing!  Lee’s Summit artist, Summit Art member and owner of Fount Atelier of Fine Art, Cody Wheelock, will introduce students to the practice of cast drawing in charcoal.  Once used extensively in artistic training, plaster casts make a magnificent visual aid while learning to draw. In this workshop Cody will introduce students to working with casts, explain the basics of charcoal drawing with chalk on toned paper, demonstrate the process of executing a charcoal drawing, and help students as they give it a try themselves.  By the end of the day students will have the foundational knowledge necessary to practice the techniques at home and take their drawing skills to another level.  A material list will be provided.  Students may bring their own lunch or eat as a group at nearby Bella’s Italian Restaurante. Students can email Cody with any questions at: info@fountatelier.com
